Canadian Newa Guthi (CNG) conducted its 16th Annual General Meeting on Sept. 18, 2022, in virtual mode. The meeting was presided over by CNG President Mr. Prakash Lal Pradhan and participated by twenty-seven guthiyars. President Pradhan inaugurated the event by lighting the “Twadewa”, an artistic Newah lamp. Mr. Pradhan also welcomed all the participants of the AGM and expressed best wishes on the Establishment Day of CNG. General Secretary Mr. Bimal Man Shrestha presented Guthi’s annual progress report (April 1, 2021- March 31, 2022). Likewise, Guthi’s recently appointed Treasurer, Mr. Rajendra Maharjan, presented the annual financial statement of CNG. During the open floor discussion of AGM, various members, including founder members Mr. Mahesh Pradhan and AMR. Pradeep Lal Shrestha expressed their opinion and thanked Guthi for its remarkable activities. At the end of the program, Guthi’s Secretary, Mr. Suman Rajbanshi, delivered a thank you note. The program was emceed by Joint Treasurer Ms. Chanda Shrestha. The meeting took the following decisions along with activities for the coming year:
Decision 1. The financial statement submitted in the AGM by Treasurer Mr. Rajendra Maharjan has to be re-submitted in the special AGM with the standard format of the government, along with the signatures of the respective post-bearers of CNG. The special AGM should be conducted within two months of the last AGM.
Decision 2. Mr. Jalendra Shakya, the general member of Guthi, currently residing in Brampton City, has been appointed as Executive Member of CNG in lieu of the vacant position for the rest of the present Executive Board term.
Decision 3. The AGM has ratified the following new structure of fees effective Oct 01, 2022:
One-time Registration fee for General members: CAD$ 25.00
The annual fee for the General members: is CAD$ 50.00
Life Membership fee: CAD$ 350.00
Decision 4. CNG will organize a community “Bratabandha” event in 2023, preferably on the day of “Achhayatritiya”. There should be at least 5 participants for the event, and the financial contribution will be tentatively CAD$ 1500.00 per person, which will include lunch and pooja Samagri and Dachhina for Priest. The culture committee is assigned to arrange the event. Detailed discussion will be made later once the minimum number of participants is confirmed.
Decision 5. Youth Felicitation program (for those who have achieved a university degree) will be organized in the near future as per the decision of June 14, 2022. EM Dr. Prajwal Pradhan has been assigned as Coordinator to plan the program.
Decision 6. CNG will host Mha Pooja 1143 NS, and the contribution per head will be CAD$ 50.00 to 60.00. We will update all by the first week of October once we get the venue confirmation.
